Dating Through A Screen
I wrote this piece as part of my capstone class for my undergraduate Communication major. It is a traditional long-form article that delves into how college-aged people date online. It was fun to write on a topic that I got to choose, after three years of writing for our campus news organization. I found the entire process exciting and liberating.
Final Editor's Note
During my senior year of undergrad, I was made the Editor-in-Chief of BC Voice, our student-run news organization. This is still one of my proudest moments; it was a huge honor and privilege to be able to run our news organization. This was my final editor's note, which I believe captured the end of our time at BC for the year.
Student Check-Out Postponed Until Further Notice
Our-newfound ability to report on breaking news due to our online format became incredibly helpful when BC closed due to COVID-19. We were all off-campus, and I could not have been more proud of our organization as they continued to deliver content on our assigned publication days. It was like we never left campus! Bridgewater College Closes due to Coronavirus
Bridgewater College closed it's doors mid-semester due to COVID-19. In the hours after the announcement, I was tasked with writing an article that provided students with as much information as possible.

Editor's Note 04
This editor's note was very important to me, as I discussed the voices of my peers - other student-journalists. As someone who hopes to take the term "student" off that title, it is essential that we are given the time to grow, gain experience, and yes, report on matters that might make a school look bad. If student-journalists are silenced or censored, they will not grow to become well-rounded journalists.
A Divided Senate
Throughout my time at Bridgewater, our student senate had a lot of problems. My senior year was no different; there were numerous issues between the senators and their faculty advisors.
College Hires Men's Basketball Coach
In the Fall of 2019, BC Voice, our student-run news organization transitioned from a print publication to an online publication, and I was responsible for making this change go smoothly. This gave us the ability to report on breaking news much quicker than before, and one of the first pieces I had the opportunity to report on in this manner was the hiring of men's basketball coach Steven Enright. This was the first official press conference I had ever attended as a reporter, and some of the Bridgewater marketing workers mistook me for a reporter from the Daily News Record, the local news publication in Harrisonburg. I still smile thinking about that...hopefully it becomes a reality one day!
