This is Adrian Clewlow, better known as Clewy. He's a goalkeeping coach from Great Britain, who was always down for a practical joke or to talk about the plight of Liverpool.
The supporter's section for the Richmond Kicker's is called the Red Army. They were faithful to two things: their team, and giving a certain intern a beer to chug after a win. Working with them, trying to capture their determination and heart was always satisfying.
Giuseppe Gentile, number 92, was probably the player I was closest with throughout my time in Richmond. He spent a lot of the summer injured, so it was great to see him on the field. Learning more about what drives Giuseppe helped me to capture more of his competitive spirit in images of him.
Head Coach David Bulow explains to the team how their current pattern of runs should work against an upcoming opponent. Getting a team shot like this is all about location. Moving around the space that you're in can help you find new angles and new subjects.
One evening, the Kickers held a youth skills clinic. This gave me a new subject: young soccer players. This was a great change of pace, since all of the children were incredibly happy to be there and weren't focused on making everything perfect. It was a great learning experience for the kids and myself.
A study of lines and seats.
Brandon Barnes, second-string goalkeeper, was the first player to introduce himself to me when I arrived. He brought a great energy to the team - he was a true competitor who was always smiling.
Center forward Brian Shriver taking a corner kick.
Hours before the game, we had a torrential downpour. It rained all day, and you can clearly see my reaction to the sun shining and the game commencing.
This photo is from Head Coach David Bulow's first day on the job. He was a dynamic and personable coach; my favorite thing about him was how he stood up for his team.
